Ledge Meadows Golf Course

This course was originally built/opened in 1971 as “Troy Hills” by James Troy as a nine (9) hole course. Was sold in 1979 to Lansing businessman and renamed “Ledge Meadows” as it so remains today. In 1984 it was then sold to Scott Kelly and Harold Weeks who started building the 2nd nine (9) that was opened July 19, 1990. With four (4) tee boxes you can play from 6,573yd / 71.8 / 120 down to 4,858yd / 67.9 / 107 on this tree lined Par 36/36 rolling layout. The clubhouse located next to Hwy 43 had holes going north downhill and with south uphill holes into the wind, causing many challenges. Fairways have generous landing areas with scattered trees that offers some tightness to your view from to tee boxes. Rough was thick grass with dandelions growing that made playing a yellow ball...impossible. Greens are of good size but on the slower side (5-6) with many unrepaired ball marks. Sand traps are mostly found around the greens but are currently mostly dirt and unplayable. Even though many of the holes are side by side, there is good separation and trees between them. Par 3’s have yardage blocks to assist in distance to center of greens. On the Front 9 (3,475yd) My Boys and I played from the Blacks/Tips and had our hands full with the wind today. When playing #3 a uphill and into the wind 435yd Hcp 1 Par 4 we knew it was going to be a Long Day. This same layout appeared again on #6 a 471yd Par 4 that protects its Hcp 3 very easily. The #8 a 541yd Par 5 repeated this uphill/wind layout and make bogey a normal score here today. The Back 9 #10 starts out with a nice downhill, dogleg left 420yd Hcp 4 Par 4 that allows 220yd drives great corner cuts. The Par 5 #15 a 466yd Hcp 2 has a narrow tee chute that has pond/ trees bordering your landing area. The #17 is a enjoyable 261yd Par 4 if you play smart and not with muscle. (Hint). Finishing hole #18 a easy uphill 471yd Par 5 if you stay in the fairway tee to green. Enjoyed the day with my boys and shooting 86/31putts on this windy but sunny day.
